Welcome to the website of one of the liveliest bands around.

The Cricklade Band is completely self-supporting, except for our instruments which are the result of a National Lottery funding award in 1997.  It’s probably the oldest organisation in the town of Cricklade, Wiltshire, the first town on the River Thames.   Since formation in November 1887 the band has existed without a break.

Today, it may also be one of the busiest organisations in the town. In addition to Monday and Thursday rehearsals we undertake a very healthy number of diverse engagements each year.

We are not a contesting band in the “Brassed Off’ sense, instead we prefer to concentrate on being an entertaining concert band.  That’s not to say we don’t have high standards of music-making.  Taking part in entertainment competitions has earned us high praise for our award-winning performances.

About 30 musicians under Director of Music, Paul Hewer, provide music for all events and occasions - from concerts and incidental music, air shows and agricultural shows to religious services, ceremonial parades, carnival processions, our authentic Bierfest music and marking family ‘milestones’.

In addition to the band you see today we also have two other major parts to our organisation, the Training section and the Friends of the Cricklade Band 2000
